About Dr. Comin

Dr. Comin is an experienced Clinical Psychologist dedicated to helping others overcome the obstacles to a happy, healthy, fulfilling and productive life.  Her innovative programs and methodologies offer a path to a high level of awareness and personal growth.

For the past thirty years, Dr. Comin has dedicated her life to helping thousands of individuals and families prevail over life's perplexing situations, through evaluation, diagnosis, diet, exercise and psychotherapy.  In addition, hundreds of couples have enriched their relationships and developed effective communication skills using Imago based relationship therapy and Gottman based relationship therapy.  Dr. Comin is a certified Imago therapist since 1998 and has completed Level 1 and Level 2 of the Gottman Method in 2011-2012.  She brings to the table the best of both methods to facilitate growth and development in the marital relationship.

 

Dr. Comin offers her expertise to anyone who can benefit from ending the conflicts in their lives, improving interpersonal communication skills and effectively resolving real personal issues.  As a skilled professional she is committed to deliver the most cutting edge therapies out there to her clients.  Dr. Comin provides solution oriented goal directed therapy, focusing on mindfulness and

meditation, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT),  Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Coaching, Hypnosis, Yoga, Imago Relationship Therapy, and The Gottman Method for Couples.  She not only educates herself in these methods, but also utilizes these in her own growth and development.  Dr. Comin prides herself in the fact that she does not ask her clients to do anything that she does not utilize in her everyday life.  Dr. Comin provide a safe environment to facilitate treatment with her clients while delivering validation, kindness, respect, support, acceptance and compassion.

Dr. Comin is also a cancer survivor of 20 years.  Throughout the last 20 years she has transformed her life by integrating all of the aforementioned ways of improving her mind-body-spirit connection.  This allows her to understand the suffering that clients move through when they are diagnosed with cancer or some other debilitating disease.

Dr. Comin is an RN that completed her education in 1974, she practiced nursing for 15 years while putting herself through school.  She completed her M.A. in 1983 in Marriage Family Child Counseling and her Doctorate, Psy.D. in 1990.  Dr. Comin has enjoyed a daily Yoga practice since she was 24 years old and has continued her practice into her 60's; she enjoys equanimity and balance in her life.  She is a certified Yoga instructor in two different disciplines Ashtanga and Sivananda; she received her certifications in 1999.  She offers unique instruction and lectures in the exceptional benefits of yoga and meditation.

She has a daily practice of EFT (which she has practiced for 12 years) along with meditation, a gratitude practice and daily goal setting to mastermind what she wants to manifest in her life.  She also participates in biking, spinning, dancing and other aerobic activities daily.  In 1999 she became a certified personal trainer through the AFAA.  Dr. Comin believes that mental health, physical health and spirituality are intimately connected to one another and that in order to enjoy a balanced healthy life you need to integrate them all into a daily practice that promotes a growth experience.

Choice is our gift in life and provides us with the elements to move forward instead of remaining stagnant in our old patterns.  We should never forget the truth and beauty that choices afford us in life for choices are the building blocks that make the difference between suffering and joy.  It is always our choice to either change our minds or remain in old patterns.  There is truth in the following statement; when you change your mind you change your life!
